Suzuki Voice Teacher Training Structure

Candidate needs to be member of Suzuki association

Level 1 (ESA) and Primary level Stage 1 (PPSA, ANSTEA)

150 hours              

  • 15 HOURS Suzuki Voice Repertoire lessons with an Approved Suzuki Voice Teacher Trainer including 3 hours Suzuki Voice Volume 1 playing skills with Approved Suzuki Voice Teacher Trainer or an Approved piano teacher
  • 20 HOURS Teacher Instruction with an Approved Suzuki Voice Teacher Trainer (esp. Suzuki Philosophy; Suzuki Voice Program; Child Development; Vocal Pedagogy)
  • 30 HOURS Observation of Suzuki Voice lessons of Suzuki Voice Teacher Trainer or approved Suzuki Voice Teacher         
  • 20 HOURS Observation of Suzuki Voice concerts, Suzuki Voice Volume recitals and Suzuki Voice singing days and participation in at least one approved major Suzuki workshop which includes Suzuki Voice. Workshop minimum length should be three days and include Teacher Training/Professional Development (PD) and observation of voice classes (e.g. National Summer Institutes, International Suzuki workshops, Suzuki World Conferences / conventions). Membership in one’s own association, participation in association events, and observation of training and performances of other instruments within the association is also recommended.

Level 2—3 (ESA) and Primary level Stage 2 to Intermediate level Stage 1 (PPSA, ANSTEA)

120 hours

  • 15 HOURS Suzuki Voice Repertoire lessons with Approved Suzuki Voice Teacher Trainer including 3 hours Suzuki Voice Volume 2 or 3 playing skills with an Approved Suzuki Voice Teacher Trainer or an Approved piano teacher
  • 20 HOURS Teacher Instruction with an Approved Suzuki Voice Teacher Trainer (esp. Suzuki Philosophy; Suzuki Voice Program; Child Development, Vocal Pedagogy)
  • 20 HOURS Observation   of Suzuki Voice Teacher Trainer or approved Suzuki Voice Teacher

  • 70 HOURS Teacher Training including observation                                       
  • 15 HOURS Memory Test of Suzuki Voice Repertoire                                    
  • 20 HOURS Projects with Suzuki Voice Students                                                        
  • 10 HOURS Written Work                                                                     
  • 25 HOURS Teaching in Practice                                                                                                          

Level 5 (ESA) and Advanced level (PPSA, ANSTEA)

160 hours

  • 40 HOURS Teacher Training including observation                                     
  • 20 HOURS Memory Test of Repertoire                                                           
  • 20 HOURS Written Work                                                                    
  • 80 HOURS Recital preparation and Recital

Costs in Finland 2017

ESA Suzuki Voice Long Term Teacher Training and Examination

For example in ESA Level One Teacher Training total 150 hours is recommended.

  • Teacher Instruction    20  x 60,00 euros = 1 200,00 euros (including tax 24 %)
  • Repertoire Lessons     15  x 60,00 euros =    900,00 euros (including tax 24 %)
  • Teaching in Practice   25  x 30,00 euros =    750,00 euros (including tax 24 %)

Total      = 2 850,00 euros

Suzuki Voice Teacher Training consists both individual and master class type training including lectures. The costs are from 60 hours. For the Accepted Suzuki Voice Teachers-in-training observation is free. 

Separate costs:

  • Material costs / level 
  • Exam cost in ESA is 480,00 euros (three exam board members, each 160,00 euros)
  • Pianist cost 25,00 euros / 30 mins (Practise and Recital time)
